Parts Needed for Dash Light Conversion
- Phillips screw driver
- Sheet of clear plastic in your color choice, mine is red (found it at a hobby supply store)
- a little patience determination.
How to change the color of your prelude dash lights
- remove the cover from your right hand side of the gauges
- Pull out the tweeter covers carefully
- Remove the rubber strip on the bottom of the gauge cluster
- Unscrew the top of the shroud, there are several screws going in at an angle
- Finally unscrew the dark tinted cover, there are three screws that hold it in, located here (There is one in the middle)
- One that holds this little splitter style thing between the speedo/tach cluster and the fuel/temp
- And one on the passenger side next to the tweeter
- There is a little green clip from the knob for setting the clock that you have to undo as well
- Remove those four screws that hold in the cluster, and pull out the three clips in it, one for the fuel/temp, one for the lights below it (cel, abs, cruise control etc) and one for the clock.
- Now that you have the cluster out, flip it over, and remove all of these screws
- Pull out the fuel/temp gauge:
- Remove the blue plastic cover
- Put the blue on your colored sheet of plastic, and outline it with a sharpie, then cut it out, I used a razor blade.
- Now glue your colored sheet in place of the blue plastic, I used hot glue to do this, just a little dab of it though, you dont want it to squeeze out.
- Put the gauges and clock back in, put your screws back in to hold in the white backing.
- Hook back up your green clips, then screw back in the cluster, and the cover, then the shroud, put back in the tweeters, and your rubber
- Turn it on, and test out the new color
