Honda Prelude Color Change Dash Lights [DIY]

Parts Needed for Dash Light Conversion

  • Phillips  screw driver
  • Sheet of clear plastic in your color choice, mine is red (found it at a hobby supply store)
  • a little patience determination.

How to change the color of your prelude dash lights

  1. remove the cover from your right hand side of the gauges
  2. Pull out the tweeter covers carefully
  3. Remove the rubber strip on the bottom of the gauge cluster
  4. Unscrew the top of the shroud, there are several screws going in at an angle
  5. Finally unscrew the dark tinted cover, there are three screws that hold it in, located here (There is one in the middle)

  11. There is a little green clip from the knob for setting the clock that you have to undo as well

  13. Remove those four screws that hold in the cluster, and pull out the three clips in it, one for the fuel/temp, one for the lights below it (cel, abs, cruise control etc) and one for the clock.
  14. Now that you have the cluster out, flip it over, and remove all of these screws

  20. Put the blue on your colored sheet of plastic, and outline it with a sharpie, then cut it out, I used a razor blade.

  22. Now glue your colored sheet in place of the blue plastic, I used hot glue to do this, just a little dab of it though, you dont want it to squeeze out.

  24. Put the gauges and clock back in, put your screws back in to hold in the white backing.
  25. Hook back up your green clips, then screw back in the cluster, and the cover, then the shroud, put back in the tweeters, and your rubber
  26. Turn it on, and test out the new color
